A SUPERMARKET has raised more than £6,000 to improve the lives of cancer sufferers.
Sainsbury’s Hedge End has handed over a cheque for £6,532 to The Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity after the Hampshire charity was picked by the public to benefit from a year’s fundraising.
For the last six years customers nationwide have been voting for their favourite charity for a year’s support.
Staff have since held activities including fashion shows and a school-themed disco and also donations of raffle gifts, Easter eggs and Christmas goodies for those connected with the charity.
Store manager Simon Rowberry said staff had been touched by the hospice and what it does, giving palliative care to people with life-limiting cancer, and hoped to continue supporting them in future.
