A HAMPSHIRE road forced to close this morning after a two-car crash has been reopened.
Two elderly people, one male and one female, had to be cut free from their Volkswagen Polo after the collision with a Toyota Land Cruiser on the A338.
The crash happened just after 8.30am, near North Gorley, close to the New Forest Water Park, closing the road in both directions.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was called into action but the pair were taken to Salisbury District Hospital by road ambulance, suffering from minor injuries.
Crews from Hampshire Fire and Rescue were called to the scene extricate the couple from Polo.
Motorists were being urged to avoid the scene and find an alternative route but it is set to reopen soon once the vehicles have been recovered.
