AT little short of three hours, whilst the production maintained its narrative arch and momentum it was not to be rushed.

The relationship between Curly and Laurey was nicely handled and directors Kevin Warne and David Smith showed a deft hand at comedy. The production also contained some of the best choreographed and danced scenes for this musical in a while.

The cast were enthusiastic and worked well as an ensemble.

Steve Brown was a charismatic and likeable Curly, singing the part beautifully.

Laura Lamb made suitably feisty Laurey.

Cathy Pearce was in sparkling form as Aunt Eller, whilst Abbi Marchant (Ado Annie) was a comic delight.

Although slightly more shambling than some other Juds, Lewis Philpott sang with a real sense of menace.
