POLICE have tonight confirmed they are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a Southampton flat.
Four police vehicles, including a forensics van, are tonight stationed outside a home in Brintons Road in St Mary's, Southampton following the discovery this afternoon.
A Hampshire police spokesman confirmed the incident was being treated as a "sudden death" although the exact circumstances could not be confirmed.
The identity of the man who died is not being released although he is thought to be in his 40s and a resident at the flat.
No arrests have been made.
A cordon around the property was being manned by officers whilst forensic teams tried to establish the cause of death.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service confirmed that they had been called to the address just before 5pm but that a man in his 40s was declared dead at the scene.
A post mortem was due to be carried out today.
