A MAN was rushed to hospital after an attack near his city home.

Residents at a block of flats in Shirley, Southampton, woke to find several police cars and forensic units camped outside their homes and doorsteps stained with blood.

Some in Selby Place reported that they were awoken by a man shouting he had been stabbed at around 2am on Saturday morning.

An ambulance crew was also spotted at the scene, with witnesses claiming a man was treated and taken to hospital.

Police confirmed last night that they were investigating a “suspected isolated assault” and that the man’s injuries were not life-threatening. They were not able to confirm if it had been a stabbing.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I woke up to lots of shouting and this guy was running around outside.

“Before I knew it the police were here and the ambulance turned up soon after.”
