A Hampshire councillor wants to ensure no badgers will be culled on his borough’s land.
Conservative Cllr Geoff Fazackarley has proposed a motion to Fareham Borough Council calling for a ban on the culling of the animals on council-owned land.
Cllr Fazackarley says that it is in response to a second year of culling in parts of Gloucestershire and Somerset.
“I believe that there is insufficient evidence to support the scientific claims that a cull of badgers is the answer to eradicating bovine TB from the countryside,” he stated.
The matter will be debated at the next full meeting next Thursday.
