Essex racing driver Lochlan Bearman continues to lead the Whilton Mill Mini Max Championship and round nine of the competition saw him finish in second place to title rival Kieran Wragg. Up against 25 other drivers, the Theydon Bois driver ended in fourth place in the first heat and followed that up with a victory in heat two.

In the third heat, Bearman started in 22nd position on the grid. He quickly made up places and carved his way through the pack to finish in sixth.

For the final, Wragg was on pole and Bearman was in second on the grid. Both battled hard throughout the race but the Essex racer had to settle for the runners up spot on the podium.

He said: “I felt I still had opportunities to go for the win on the last lap but once Kieran had got the gap and I had to defend it was always going to be difficult.

“I really wanted the win but it is better to have the points and concentrate on the championship.”

Bearman’s next race is at the Kimbolton Circuit in Cambridgeshire in October.
