THREE new staff have joined an expanding waste management specialist near Southampton.

Their appointments take the number of staff at recycling-to-haulage group TJ to a record 140, up by 40 in the past two years alone on the back of new contract wins.

Joining the Fareham-based company are sales representative Simon Dunsford, transport co-ordinator William Linton and apprentice transport co-ordinator David Millington.

John Gosling is the managing director of TJ, which has 3,000 clients across from Bournemouth in the west to Brighton in the east and up to near Rugby in the East Midlands, with the branded fleet of vehicles set to reach 100 by this September.

He said: “Our latest three appointments reflect increased commercial demands from companies across the country, with our geographical reach now as far as near Rugby, where we are transporting aggregates as part of the £191m motorway improvement scheme at junction 19 of the M1.

“William and David’s roles on the transport co-ordination side come as we anticipate operating 100 vehicles under the TJ brand by this September, with daily vehicle route planning from Dorset to Sussex and London to the East Midlands, as well as heartland Hampshire.

Simon and David are from Fareham and William from Emsworth.

Earlier this year TJ made other industry hires, including Mark Alford, Dan Lloyd and Clive Westwood.

The company operates commercial recycling centres in Hampshire and West Sussex and provides workplace recycling collections, skip container hire and bulk haulage services.

Earlier this summer TJ rolled out two new commercial recycling facilities in Hampshire – Blashford sand and gravel quarry, just north of Ringwood and Tipner, Portsmouth, just off the M275.

Britain’s waste management sector reportedly contributes £5.5billion to the economy, employing 140,000 people.

Government figures indicate that the cost of dealing with general and commercial waste typically accounts for four per cent of a company’s turnover.
