RECOVERING a stranded luxury car was stalled after it became impossible to tow the vehicle out of a flood-hit road.
The BMW X5 became stuck in water under the Brockenhurst Railway Bridge, which is often flooded during heavy rain.
However, recovering the vehicle was not straight forward as without the engine running the set-up means that the car cannot be taken out of ‘park’ mode.
As a result the recovery team decided against towing it out for fear it would damage the engine and electronic gear box.
The driver was instead forced to wait until specialist recovery, which can take all four wheels off of the ground, to arrive.
However, a group from the Young Explorer Foundation who were on hand during the recovery, offered to give the driver a lift to the Pig Hotel in Brockenhurst where he could wait for the recovery in comfort.
