LANTERNS will light up Gosport as the town prepares for the festive season.
Father Christmas will lead Gosport’s lantern and fancy dress parade up the High Street from Falkland Gardens to Lawrence Square where the town’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.30pm on November 29.
There will be a prize for the best lantern and best fancy dress, announced by mayor of Gosport Cllr Keith Gill at the event.
Thousands of people are expected to flock to the high street where there will be entertainment from acts including Michael Buble tribute Jason Allen, X Factor duo The Brooks, The Thorngate Pantomime & Variety Company, and youngsters from St John’s Primary School will lead the Christmas carols.
A free lantern-making workshop will be held at the Discovery Centre ahead of the parade from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
People taking part in the parade should meet at the gardens at 3.30pm.
