A FORMER Grand Prix driver and front man of TV motoring show Fifth Gear Tiff Needell, is set to join quadruple amputee, Alex Lewis, to turn on Stockbridge Christmas Tree lights on Tuesday, December 9 at 7pm.

Stockbridge holds an annual late night shopping event and, this year, the town is celebrating its association with Formula One racing.

A 1977 F1 car, raced by Belgium driver Patrick Neve and used in the 2013 movie Rush, will be on display in the High Street thanks to local firm WKD Motorsport.

Festivities on the night include live music and a Santa’s Grotto at the Grosvenor Hotel.

The Country Market and local charities will be at the Town Hall and among the stallholders will be Geoff Merritt who will be selling his book A Glimpse of Stockbridge Past with proceeds going to the Court Leet.

St Peter’s Church bells will ring out at 7pm, when Alex, joined by Tiff, will switch on the Christmas Tree lights followed by a candle-lit carol service.

Tiff said: “The community have worked hard to make this a special Christmas. It is an honour for me to join Alex Lewis in turning on the lights in my local town.”
