A FAMILY that was targeted by vandals who hacked down Christmas lights put up to bring happiness to a young boy with cerebral palsy have been inundated with offers of help.

As reported in yesterday’s Daily Echo, thieves cut down rope lights and removed others from the wheelchair ramp used by six-year-old Lewis Tupper.

His mum Trish, 36, said she was disgusted by thieves, who took the sensory lights which were so enjoyed by Lewis, and which cost around £100.

Since their story appeared in the Echo the family, of Botley Road in Southampton, have been inundated with offers of help.

The Retro Diner in Shirley managed to raise £100 in a day for the family to replace the lights, whilst money has been donated to Lewis’ Just Giving charity page, which was set up to raise money for vital equipment needed to support his care.

Christmas-lights firms have also been in touch to offer replacement displays.

Trish, said: “It has been amazing. It is good to know that there are so many good people who want to help after what happened. Thanks to all of them for their offers of help.”
