HAMPSHIRE'S Olympic hero Dani King is back in the saddle and loving every minute.
The London 2012 gold medallist has today tweeted her delight about being back on the road for the first time since a horrific training accident left her with five broken ribs and a collapsed lung in intensive care.
The 23-year-old, from Hamble, said: “One of the happiest days on my bike”, later adding “and yes...this was today! First day back on the road.”
As previously reported, Dani, who is based in Cardiff, was on a training session with a group of riders, including Team Sky rider Luke Rowe, at the beginning of November, when the crash happened.
About 60 miles into an 88-mile route around Merthyr Tydfil, one cyclist hit a pothole covered by a puddle and Dani was brought down in the ensuing crash, with another rider falling on top of her.
She was taken to the nearest hospital by ambulance and her parents Trevor and Lynn rushed from Hamble to be with her.
