A MAJOR Hampshire road will be closed for several hours after a cyclist died in a fatal crash today.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the A3 southbound near Liphook at about 7.30am this morning.

A 32-year-old cyclist died following the crash, which involved multiple vehicles.

The man’s next of kin have been informed; however formal identification procedures have not yet taken place.

The collision happened just after the Hindhead Tunnel and the road is closed from Thursley and Liphook.

A police statement says that the southbound carriageway is likely to remain closed for “several hours”.

A diversion has been set up and road users travelling southbound should join the A31 after Guildford, following the solid black triangle diversion symbol towards Farnham.

After Farnham, join the A325 southbound towards Bordon, to then re-join the A3 near the village of Longmoor.

The diversion route is approximately 26 miles.
