ACTOR Chris Barrie is returning to Hampshire - 18 years after the last series of The Brittas Empire was filmed in the county.

Chris is visiting the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, on Saturday to give a talk about some of the most exciting cars, trucks and trains ever made.

The 54-year-old actor and impressionist is no stranger to the New Forest.

For six years he played Gordon Brittas, the well meaning but incompetent leisure centre manager who was plagued by an endless series of crises, most of which were of his own making.

Exterior shots and poolside scenes were shot at Ringwood Health and Leisure, which doubled as the fictional Whitbury Leisure Centre.

Daily Echo:

Chris also played Arnold Rimmer in the sci-fi sit-com Red Dwarf. More recently he has presented Chris Barrie's Massive Engines, the series that has examined almost every form of mechanised transport.

His talk will be held in the lecture theatre at 7.30pm. For tickets call Theresa Browning on 01590 614792 or e-mail friends@beaulieu.co.uk.

An interview with Chris Barrie appears in this week's Seven Days magazine, free with the Daily Echo on Saturday.
