A WOMAN has been hit by a car close a Hampshire school .
Police have confirmed that they received a report just after midday yesterday of a collision between a person and a car, close to Holy Family Catholic Primary School.
It is understood that a row broke out within one of the homes along Lower Brownhill Road before the 26-year-old was hit by a car.
She is believed to have suffered head injuries and has been taken to Southampton General Hospital.
Police officers and paramedics attended the scene.
The road remains open.
An officer at the scene said there were two people involved in suspected road traffic collision involving one male and one female.
The man has been arrested.
One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "I heard a bang and ran outside to see what had happened, the girl was on the floor still awake but in pain, I called the ambulance and police straight away and then got her a blanket.
"She was the daughter of my next door neighbours, I don't know them very well they have only live here for a year and a half, I was just trying to help."
TJ Elgar, 18 said: "I heard a sort of thump but didn't think anything of it, then I took my dog out and saw all the police cars.
"You don't really expect it to happen near you, this is the quiet end of Millbrook. I hope she is alright, it seems like something quite nasty must have happened for her to be rushed to hospital."
