PLANS to build nearly 300 homes in Overton have been unveiled.

Dandara Limited has submitted an application to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council for a “scoping opinion” to build 275 homes on land at Great North Field, west of Kingsclere Road.

According to the application, 110 of the 275 homes would be affordable and the applicant has proposed a housing mix of 20 one-bedroom homes, 115 two-bedroom homes, 54 three-bedroom homes, and 86 four-bedroom homes.

If approved, the new homes are set to generate an additional 160 car journeys between 8am and 9am and an extra 167 car journeys between 5pm and 6pm.

The application, which has been submitted by John Richards, senior planning manager at Dandara, says: “Overton, as a village, accommodates a good range of existing shops, services and community facilities that could be accessed by future residents on a day-to-day basis.”

A detailed planning application is set to be submitted at a later date.
