SCHOOLS across Hampshire will be taking part in World Book Day today.
It's a national event encouraging children to dive into the fictional world of literature.
Gruffalos, Peppa Pigs and Hungry Caterpillars could be spotted running around the playground today as the event launches for its 18 th year celebrating authors, illustrators, books and reading.
Children across Southampton have been asked to don fancy dress costumes inspired by their favourite characters and will spend the day reading new novels and incorporating books into the normal curriculum with themed lessons.
