Solicitors in Southampton were today taking part in the first day of a two-day protest against proposed legal aid reforms.
They say the changes will drive many of their colleagues out of business.
The lawyers will be picketing the city magistrates' court as part of a national campaign protesting against the projected government reforms.
Under the course of action, lawyers will still be acting for established clients but will not be taking on new ones. Only duty solicitors will be acting in the magistrates' court and police stations.
