CAMPAIGNERS staged a demonstration today as part of their battle to save the only historic building in their neighbourhood.
About 70 people gathered outside the former Blackfield Infant School to protest at plans to demolish a relic of the golf course that used to occupy the site.
A former golf pavilion is due to be torn down and replaced by more than 40 houses.
Protest organiser Lou Francis said the building should be converted into homes or a library and community centre.
Mrs Francis said more than 700 people had signed in a petition in a bid to prevent the old clubhouse being torn down.
