TWO of Totton's sports teams are just a couple of wins away from putting the town on the sporting map.

Totton will be awash with sporting fever on March 3 as the town's football and rugby teams play huge quarter-final cup ties on the same day.

To mark their achievements, the Daily Echo has thrown its support behind the town in the lead up to the super Saturday with our campaign Go Totton Go.

The town's football club AFC Totton secured a place in the last eight of the FA Vase for the first time in the club's 121-year history earlier this month to play Dorset neighbours, Wimborne Town, in the quarters.

Their cup heroics were matched by rugby club, Tottonians, who booked their EDF Energy Senior Vase quarter-final spot last week by beating Kent-based side Deal & Betteshanger.

They will face Gloucestershire side Stroud in the quarters.

If Tottonians negotiate a path through to the final they will play at the home of rugby, Twickenham, while the venue for the FA Vase final has yet to be confirmed - though it is hoped that it could be played at the newly-opened Wembley Stadium.

The Go Totton Go campaign is simply about opening the doors of Totton up and letting the whole of Hampshire know what the town is all about.

We need your help to do that.

We want to know about the people, the places in the town and at both clubs.

We also want you to let us know why you love Totton and to put your weight behind Tottonians and Totton FC by sending in your messages of support. If you're planning to do anything special in schools, in your shop or workplace, then let us know.

You don't have to be from Totton to get behind the team.

If you have a story about Totton or want to tell us why you love the town, contact the Daily Echo campaign reporters Simon Walter and Adrian Kajumba by e-mailing echosport@dailyecho.co.uk or calling 023 8042 4777.
