A MAN has died after the car he was driving went into a ditch and overturned this morning.
Police are investigating the incident which happened on the A303 near Micheldever, around 7.30am.
Two people were travelling in the car: a male driver and a female passenger.
The man has died, and the female passenger has been taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police are in the process of tracing and contacting the man's next-of-kin.
The A303 eastbound remains closed between the junctions with the A34 and the M3.
The A303 was picked out by traffic information company Trafficmaster as one of the likely top five busiest roads over the Easter holiday period during which around 15-16 million cars are set to take to the road.
This closure is expected to stay in place this morning (Thursday) while officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) complete an examination of the scene.
