STREAMERS of red and white tape flapping in the wind are holding up traffic on a major Hampshire motorway.
Lorries and vans are being forced to pull over as they get trapped in the tape on the M27 near Rownhams Services this morning.
It is believed that the tape is used for roadworks, which have been causing major delays for commuters in the past few months as they travel into Southampton.
One driver has told the Daily Echo: “It’s everywhere, it looks like police tape but red and white and it’s flapping all over the place in the wind and loads of cars are getting trapped by it and having to pull off the motorway to sort their cars out.”
A spokesman for Highways England said: “We have not received any reports in our control room about this but we are going to send a patrol team down just to be sure and if the tape is there then we will remove it quickly.”
