THE two villages may be tiny but they showed their community spirit is huge.
The Lockerley and East Dean Carnival and fete attracted hundreds of people as it does every year.
A procession wound its way the quarter of a mile from Butt’s Green to the Glebe Field where the fete was held.
Organiser Lisa Shaw said: “The community spirit is just phenomenal. Everybody pulls through and it has always been the case. It is a very close-knit village. The procession was fabulous.”
Comedian Jim Davidson, who lives at Stockbridge, opened the fete on Saturday and then spoke to dozens of people at the stall for Care After Combat, a charity that helps military veterans. His wife Michelle judged the carnival procession.
This year’s carnival queen was Daisy Hamblin, her princess was Primrose King and her three flowers girls were Ellie Hunter, Lauren McRobert and Grace Cavill.
