THE LIFE of one lucky jet-setting Southampton resident has changed after they scooped a winning lottery ticket and a holiday.

The National Lottery has announced that a £1,000,000 and a prize trip to New York has been claimed.

Residents across the city were urged to check their pockets, backs of the sofas and washing baskets in a bid to find the millionaire.

Now, Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, operator of The National Lottery, has said the winner from the EuroMillions Mega Friday draw on 31 July has come forward.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win.

“It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-changing amount of money.

“We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play.”

The spokesman added that unless the winner of a major National Lottery prize opts to take full publicity and signs an agreement to that effect, no further information will be released about their win.

Every week EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker guarantees to create two millionaires – one on Tuesday and one on Friday – but with the EuroMillions Mega Friday draws, 10 players win a guaranteed £1m plus a once-in-a-lifetime prize.

For every EuroMillions line played, UK players automatically receive a UK Millionaire Maker code printed on their ticket.

Every Mega Friday winner has the choice of either taking the once-in-a-life-time prize, or a cash alternative.
