He is one of the world’s most famous chefs - known as much for his colourful language than his cooking.
So you can imagine the surprised when at first glace guests at the opening of a new Hampshire restaurant thought none other than celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay had turned up to do the honours.
But on closure inspection the special guest at the opening of Southampton’s new Artisan Restaurant was in fact Ramsay impersonator Martin Jordan.
The restaurant has been created in the former Plummers department store space in the Cultural Quarter by Southampton Solent University and catering provider Sodexo Education.
The opening attracted more than 80 guests, with people passing by stopping to request signatures from the Ramsay replica.
Amy Webster, conference and hospitality manager at the university, said: “People were shocked when he arrived, we had people walking past the windows saying ‘There’s Gordon! There’s Gordon!”
