FIREFIGHTERS are warning people to take care when cooking after attending a chip pan fire at a Hampshire home.
Crews were called to a flat in Chester Court in Gosport when a pan flared out of control at 9pm last night.
A 60-year-old woman living there managed to turn off the cooker immediately and the flames had died down before the crew from Gosport fire station arrived.
The woman was uninjured and no damage was caused.
Firefighters offered her safety advice and watch manager Rob Dellow said: “If people are going to cook using fat fryers we advise them not to get distracted and stay in the room in case something happens.”
