SOUTHAMPTON legend Matt Le Tissier has met his match after crashing out of Countdown.
The midfielder was making his fourth appearance on the show after a hat-trick of wins last week with two scores of more than 100.
But maths tutor John Hardie had too much for him this afternoon, walloping the former England international 102-51.
Matt got off to a slow start but kept the lead down to a respectable 10 points until the second half when his opponent pulled away with a string of impressive scores.
But he left with high praise from the show’s presenters Nick Hewer and Rachel Riley.
Nick said: “After three great wins it can be a tough game. I hope you come back and see us again. Well done.”
And Rachel added: “It was a very good effort. Brains as well as beauty!”, to which Matt quipped: “Oh you’re talking about me?”
Matt, who scored more than 200 goals for Saints between 1986 and 2002, was the fourth professional footballer to appear on the Channel 4 show.
