POLICE have released new information in an appeal to identify the body of a kayaker found dead on a beach.
Officers have issued an e-fit image of the man, who was found on Yaverland Beach, Sandown.
It follows the release of CCTV images which showed the man in Brighton Canoes, in Newhaven, Sussex, four days before his death on September 11.
A spokesman said: “Information has been shared in the force area of Hampshire and Isle of Wight, as well as in Sussex and Ireland; however we are no closer to identifying the man and need the publics help. “We do not know where the man lived, or where he was originally from.”
The man is described as white, aged in his mid 20s-mid 30s, with blue eyes, dark hair, well-built and was wearing beige shorts and a blue zip-up jacket. He spoke with an Irish accent.
The kayak was a yellow and black ‘blow up’ Sevylor Conrad.
His death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to try to establish the circumstances. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
