THIS is the shocking moment when a young mum stabs at a man's neck with her stiletto heels before swiping a knife towards him.

Sickening footage shows her lunging at him outside a supermarket in one of Southampton's busiest nightspots.

The ferocious assault comes just moments after her accomplice threatens the terrified man with a meat cleaver pulled from his trousers.

Now Emily Clayton and friend Wesley Robinson are waking up behind bars after being jailed for the violent premeditated assault.

Clayton, 23, of Meredith Towers, Tunstall Road, Southampton, admitted charges of common assault and threatening another with a bladed article.

Robinson, 42, of Macarthur Crescent, admitted threatening another with an offensive weapon.

Southampton Crown Court heard how their victim - known only as Mr Turner - was a boyfriend of Clayton's mother who had allegedly accused him of threatening her.

The pair approached him outside Sainsbury's in Bedford Place at 9.45pm on August 18 while scores of revellers were partying in nearby pubs and bars.

Prosecutor Martyn Booth told the court how the trio became involved in a "verbal altercation" with Clayton at the forefront of the row.

Robinson pulled the meat cleaver from this jeans "holding it towards" Mr Turner for several seconds before putting it away, the court heard.

Clayton ripped off her stiletto heels and pulled a lock-knife from her pocket.

Mr Booth told the court: "She hits him with her shoes then hits with the other hand containing the knife and swings at the neck area."

He suffered a "pin-prick" injury in the attack and did not require hospital treatment, the court heard.

Police arrived and arrested the pair and officers recovered the meat cleaver after Robinson tried to drop it into a drain, it was heard.

In mitigation Oliver O'Connor, for Clayton, said his client acted when anger and emotions "got the better of her" following Mr Turner's alleged threats to her mother Mr O'Connor said: "This is clearly not an unprovoked matter and has background to it."

He claimed the stiletto heel caused the injury rather than the knife and that Clayton - who has seven previous convictions for nine offences including assault - suffers from drug abuse and mental health problems.

Thomas Horder, for Robinson, said his client had brandished the weapon for just eight seconds and had tried to restrain Clayton afterwards, adding: "His role lasted seconds."

He said Robinson - who has 32 convictions for 83 previous offences including theft, drugs and criminal damage - struggles with health problems after being diagnosed with hepatitis.

But sentencing them both to six months prison terms Judge Peter Henry said: "Even if you found it necessary to confront him there's no excuse for arming yourselves with potentially lethal weapons.

He added: "There's such a fine line between someone having a minor injury to the neck and lying dead on the pavement."
