THE HOMELESS community were given some festive cheer when volunteers handed out hot food, drink and gifts.
Organised by Southampton Sikh Seva around 250 people enjoyed samosas, onion bhajis, pizza, sandwiches and mince pies along with tea, coffee, juice and bottled water as part of the event outside Above Bar Church in the city centre.
Volunteers also travelled around the Southampton handing out specially prepared gift boxes for the homeless which included hats, scarfs, socks and gloves to help them keep warm throughout the winter months.
Fleece jackets, hoodies and sleeping bags were also provided which were donated by local residents and businesses.
A spokesman for the group said: "Overall, it was a huge success and there was great spirit amongst all involved. We received endless praise for our efforts to help the less unfortunate and we are very humbled by the public support and generous donations. "Southampton Sikh Seva would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers including children who tirelessly helped us that evening and done a fantastic job."
