AN AWARDS ceremony took place to celebrate a radio station’s tenth anniversary.

Unity 101 Community Radio has been filling the airwaves with music and culture of the Asian and ethnic communities of Southampton for a decade.

On Friday night they held a special evening of certificates and awards at The Hub Theatre in Southampton City College to recognise the achievements of the station’s volunteers and organisations who promote community cohesion.

Guests included the Mayor of Southampton, Cllr Linda Norris, Khurshid Drabu, CBE, former judge and founder of Muslim Council of Britain, Dahlia Jamil from WEA and chair person of Art Asia and Jo Ash, chief executive of Southampton Voluntary Services.

Unity 101, which is a voluntary organisation, continued their celebrations throughout the weekend with live music and a special dinner.
