HE has become a global blues sensation and he is heading towards Hampshire.

In just a few short years Canadian guitarist, singer and songwriter JW- Jones has become hot property on the blues circuit.

Jones will be headlining at Southampton’s 1865 on April 10 hot on the heels of his Juno Award nomination.

The 35 year-old musician has built up a reputation for his high energy show that keep getting hotter.

Jones was born into a musical family in the summer of 1980 and began playing the drums. He switched to guitar shortly after seeing his first BB King concert.

After getting a Fender Stratocaster from his grandparents Jones began to seriously study and practice guitar and also took up bass and played that instrument for a year.

The JW-Jones band was formed in 1998 when Jones was just 18. He and his High School friends – all passionate about the blues – wasted little time in recording a six track demo that got them further bookings at clubs and festivals across Canada.

Jones, who has picked up a string of awards, has in the last decade released eight albums and played in 19 countries and four continents.

He has performed at blues festivals, theatres and clubs in Canada, the USA, Europe, Russia, Australia and Brazil.

Away from singing the blues the Ottawa based musician has also carved out a career in TV acting and modelling.
