TALENTED youngsters battled it out to take the crown in a cutting edge hair and beauty competition.

The best budding hair stylists, beauticians and make-up artists have taken to the stage as they went head to head in the finals of Fareham College's Hair and Beauty Showcase.

Youngsters showed off their top creations in front of judges and an audience of hundreds at Ferneham Hall.

It comes after two months of heats at the college which selected winners to go on to take part in the showcase with their designs fit for the 1940s or modern festivals as well as fantasy and classic designs.

Nigel Duncan, principal of Fareham College, said: “Every year the exceptional work showcased by our hairdressing, beauty therapy and specialist make-up students gets even more impressive, and this year they have again demonstrated the skills of real professionals.

"It has been a dazzling display of talent, innovation and skill. The students who took part are distinct and confident in their evident talents and really show the high quality of the work they produce – the standards clearly demonstrate that if you want to work as a professional stylist, therapist, make-up artist or hairdresser, Fareham College is the place to be."
