THOUSANDS of runners pounded the streets in the record-breaking Eastleigh 10k.
The popular annual event is sponsored by Hendy Ford and is known as a flat course for runners seeking their personal best times.
Earlier this year organisers announced that a record number of runners had signed up and last year more than 2,000 athletes got involved.
The winning man in the 2016 event was Adam Hickey of Southend Athletics Club with a time of 29 minutes and 24 seconds, while the leading woman was Laura Whittle of Royal Sutton Coldfield Athletics Club with a time of 32.36.
Hundreds of children will also take part in the fun run and earn their own medals.
This year’s race is supporting the Mayor of Eastleigh’s Charity Appeal, Wave 105’s Cash for Kids appeal and WaterAid Zambia.
