THERE are two new faces in Southampton's cabinet as Labour council leader Simon Letts reshuffles his top team.
Education and children's social care cabinet member Dan Jeffery lost his seat in the recent election, and his role has now been split between two councillors.
Peartree councillor Paul Lewzey, a former social worker, will take on children's social care while lecturer Darren Paffey, elected to Bargate having lost his seat a year before, will take on education.
Both will take half of a full cabinet member's allowance for the roles.
Cllr Letts (below) has also moved some responsibilities in the cabinet around, with Warwick Payne taking on adult social care while health boss Dave Shields assumes responsibility for environmental services from him.
The leader will take on estate regeneration from Cllr Payne, while Jacqui Rayment has been named as a second deputy leader alongside Cllr Payne as well as including community safety in her portfolio.
The leader has also announced that cabinet member for transformation Christopher Hammond will take on a new role overseeing developments in the eastern side of the city.
The reshuffle comes after Labour held on to control of the council at the recent local elections.
Mr Jeffery was one of two casualties from Labour, but the party picked up two more seats to maintain its majority of two.
