A SPARKLING new retirement complex was given a sprinkling of stardust when it was officially opened.

Former GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips, who grew up in Millbrook, cut the cake and declared Anchor's Bishopstoke Park retirement village open for business.

The star was joined by the former Mayor of Eastleigh Cllr Jane Walsh, Anchor chief executive Jane Ashcroft CBE and 200 guests from the village and surrounding homes.

Guests were given a sneak preview of the village which features more than 90 independent and assisted living apartments for people over 65 who can make use of a 24-hour support team as well as communal lounges, library, spa, fitness centre and gardens.

There is also an on-site 48-bedroom care home for those who need extra support.

Fiona Phillips said: “From meeting the Anchor team and taking a tour of the village, I can already tell that residents will be very happy at Bishopstoke Park.

“The combination of luxurious on-site facilities, thoughtful design and the peace of mind that support is always on hand should you need it creates a wonderfully calm atmosphere. I eagerly await my own retirement!”
