A pensioner was threatened at knifepoint by a burglar.

Police have launched a manhunt for a burglar who threatened a 69-year-old man at his home in Southampton.

Hampshire Constabulary is investigating the incident which happened in Radcliffe Road.

The burglar entered the home demanding valuables from the residents, threatening him with a knife at around 7.30pm on Monday, May 30.

The man made off with three gold watches and a Samsung mobile phone, plus £20 cash.

The 69-year-old was not injured.

The burglar has been described as mixed race, 30 to 40 years old, medium build with dark, silky black hair which was short on top and longer on the sides.

The man had a smooth complexion with a mole under right eye and he was wearing a dark t-shirt and a dark jacket with front pockets, dark jeans and dark trainers.

DC Mark Bradley from the Western Investigations Team said: “I am appealing directly to anyone who saw a man matching this description in the Radcliffe Road area on Monday evening to come forward and make contact with us. Furthermore, have you been offered gold watches or a Samsung mobile recently?

“This incident happened during daylight hours and I am confident someone would have seen this man.

“We would like to reassure residents that we have increased patrols in the area. Please ensure your home is protected and take extra precaution in securing windows and doors in this warmer weather. If you see anyone suspicious call 101 or 999 in an emergency.

“To have a stranger enter your home is a terrifying experience for anyone to suffer. I hope someone will read this appeal and assist us with our investigation. Call 101 and quote 44160202050.”
