IT IS back for another day of fun, games and activities.

Thousands are expected to descend on one of Hampshire’s most popular free family events this weekend.

The Totton Family Fun Day takes place and organisers promise it will be better than ever.

Last year the event attracted more than 7,000 people, and even more are expected to turn up at this yea’r fun-packed event on Saturday.

Organiser John Cunningham said this year’s theme is The Great British Fun Day with the event marking Her Majest y The Queen’s 90th birthday, Mr Cunningham: “We want people to wear red, white blue or all three “Let’s make it a pageant feel.”

One of the acts taking part include a strongman team from Bolton.

They are all ex-offenders, ex- addicts and homeless and have had their lives completely transformed.

Mr Cunningham said: “The Be Strong team have some incredible stories to tell. They are completely not only reformed characters but completely transformed.

“Be Strong are a wonderful charity who work with men like this to help them get back on the road to integration.

“It’s quite a story.”

As the event take place on the Queen’s birthday, organisers will have a giant birthday card for the monarch available for the community to sign.

A video of the Totton community singing Happy Birthday will also be produced and sent to the royal family at Buckingham Palace.

“The key thing to remember is that the whole event is free,” said Mr Cunningham.

“You don’t have to bring any cash on the day.

“Free is something people cannot grasp these days. But it is simply that.

He added:”Our main providers are Testwood Baptist Church and Bradbeers and we are truly grateful for their ongoing support to make this event one of the most popular in the area.”

The event takes place on Testwood Recreation Ground on Saturday June 11th from 1pm – 5pm.
