DOZENS of firefighters tackled a lorry blaze on a Hampshire dual carriageway in the early hours of today.
The parcel truck caught fire on the A34 southbound carriageway between Whitchurch and Litchfield at 3.32am.
Crews from Romsey, Whitchurch, Sutton Scotney and Kingsclere fire stations arrived to tackle the flames which had engulfed the vehicle.
They used breathing apparatus, two water jets and two hose reels to fight the fire.
An extra water carrier was drafted in from Andover and a heavy rescue vehicle from Reading.
Noone was hurt in the incident, but Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said environmental teams from Romsey were needed to check that water runoff from the incident did not contaminate nearby waterways.
One lane of the dual carriageway was shut while crews worked and they eventually stood down at 7.28am.
