LIFEBOAT crews were called out after a couple on a yacht reported a fire on board the vessel.
The couple on the 34ft Cara had called for help after their cabin filled with what they believed to be smoke after leaving Island Harbour in the River Medina on the Isle of Wight.
However, after alerting the Solent Coastguards this afternoon, it was discovered that the "smoke" was actually steam caused by water leaking from a broken pipe dropping onto the engine.
The RNLI Cowes lifeboat crew had ferried out the Bembridge lifeboat mechanic to look at the yacht, and Cowes crewman Alasdair Boden then took the Cara to Cowes.
