A CAR smashed into a wall close to a Southampton railway station.

Part of Station Road in Sholing was blocked following the collision close to the junction with Spring Road near Sholing Station at 7.45pm last night.

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said two cars were involved in the crash – with one going into the wall and the other remaining on the road.

Resident Jon Clutton who came back home to discover the road closed, said: “A car is on top of a wall in someone’s garden. "The fire brigade and ambulance services are here.

"It doesn’t look like anyone’s hurt but it is going to take a while to tidy up.”

Crews from Hightown fire station rushed to the scene along with the police and ambulance services.

No one was injured in the incident.

Although the firefighters only had to make sure the scene was safe, Firefighter Jim Curry said the junction has become “a bit of a death trap” recently adding that they are getting more calls to the scene due to crashes.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance said: "We were called at 7.38pm reporting a car that had collided with a wall.

"The two occupants were reported as being out of the vehicle and mobile.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene and both patients were treated at the scene for minor injuries."
