A HAMPSHIRE motorway is partly blocked after a ‘medical episode’ caused a driver to crash into the central reservation.

Motorists on the M27 westbound are facing delays after the collision, which happened near Rownhams around 4.15pm.

Traffic is building on the M27 and the M3 southbound sliproad while emergency services deal with the crash.

Lanes three and four of the westbound carriageway have been shut while lanes one and two remain open to funnel traffic past the incident.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said they were called at 4.17pm to the crash where one patient is believed to have suffered a ‘medical episode’ and crashed into the central reservation.

Police are currently on scene and said they were called to a single car collision between junctions four and three of the motorway.

Highways England are also on scene helping to deal with traffic following the smash.

Ambulance crews are currently treating a female patient at the scene and her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
