OLYMPIC gold medallist cyclist Dani King returned to her old school to inspire children to follow their cycling and sporting dreams.
The London 2012 champion’s visit to Hamble Primary School was arranged by Hampshire County Council to encourage the pupils to take up cycling, be more active and offer cycle safety tips in bikeability sessions.
Dani started cycling in 2005 aged 14 following a school visit from British Cycling’s Talent Team.
Then as a teenager, Dani received support from the county council’s Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme, which is co-ordinated by Sport Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
Dani said: “When I won gold at London 2012 I always hoped I could help get more people out on bikes and especially young girls and women.
"With the help of Hampshire County Council and the Breeze Ride scheme, it’s great that we’re achieving both of these aims.”
