A WEEK of spooky family fun will begin in a Basingstoke shopping centre next week.

Festival Place is hosting a number of activities during half-term to mark Hallowe'en.

Basingstoke Discovery Centre will hold a two-hour workshop from 1pm on Monday when children can create mini broomsticks using twigs and willow, at a cost of £5.

On Tuesday, a cat care talk will be held in the centre at 2pm, costing £2, with information about being a responsible pet owner.

The event is recommended for children aged five plus.

A crime investigation workshop will take place next Friday from 11am to 1pm in Festival Place, when children can work their way through a series of clues using real forensic techniques to solve a Hallowe'en crime.

Aimed at children aged seven plus, the activity costs £12.

Rounding off the week on Saturday, October 29, there will be a spooky mad scientist's laboratory in Porchester Square from 12noon until 6pm, full of creepy creative fun, including facepainting and trick or treat bag decorating.

Customers can also take funny frightening photographs of their head in a jar.
