A FIVE-VEHICLE pile-up blocked a Hampshire motorway this morning.

The M27 westbound was shut at junction five for Stoneham Way following the crash, which happened at about 7am.

Severe traffic was building on the westbound carriageway with delays of up to an hour and 45 minutes being reported.

The A27 heading into Southampton on Kanes Hill was moving very slowly and there was traffic on the same road westbound between Fareham and Swanwick.

There were also delays on the M27 eastbound between junction two at Ower and the M3 slip road.

Significant problems were reported on the B3354 northbound towards Fair Oak.

The vehicles have been cleared and traffic has returned to normal in the area.

It is not known if anyone has been injured in the crash.
