A LORRY fire has closed a busy Hampshire road.

The A31 at Bishops Sutton near Alresford is currently shut as police and firefighters deal with a the blaze.

The fire is said to have broken out in the cab of the articulated lorry.

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said that they were called to the blaze at 3.18pm this afternoon and the road is shut as firefighters from Hampshire Fire and Rescue tackle the flames.

Hampshire Road Policing Unit said the road is expected to be closed until tomorrow, as it will need to be resurfaced.

The driver is believed to be uninjured according to the spokesman.
