A HAMPSHIRE man on trial for causing death by dangerous driving following a horrific accident at a busy junction has been acquitted of all charges.

Tomas Pittaway, a motoring enthusiast who has refused to get behind the wheel of any vehicle since the fatal accident, was found not guilty by a jury at Bournemouth Crown Court.

The jury had retired to consider its verdict following a two day trial, where the prosecution alleged an instrument panel, attached to the A-frame of Mr Pittaway's Volvo car, had obscured his view and led to him failing to see pedestrian Peter Worrall and his wife, Julie, crossing the road in Bournemouth.

Peter Worrall, aged 49, died following the collision, while Mrs Worrall - who gave evidence at the trial earlier this week - suffered a fractured skull, bleed on the brain and smashed pelvis.

Mr Pittway was found innocent on one count of causing death by dangerous driving, and a second count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

When the Daily Echo approached Mr Pittaway at his Bransgore home, following yesterday's not-guilty verdict, the 26-year-old declined to comment.

Mr Pittaway, who founded his own car club - South Coast Audio - was driving to meet friends in Poole, with just his girlfriend as passenger, on the evening of December 13 2015 when the fatal collision occurred.
