POLICE in Andover are today appealing for information after an attempt was made to rob a woman walking alone on London Road at the junction of Walled Meadow.
It happened at around 10.20pm on Friday, February 3.
The 21-year-old woman sustained a sprained ankle as a man tried to grab her bag.
The man was unsuccessful and ran off towards Eastern Avenue.
The offender is described as a tall white man in his 20s. He is described as wearing a dark coloured hooded top with the hood up and a dark coloured jacket.
Det Con Edward Tyrie said: “This type of incident is not common in Andover. It happened on a main road near the town centre.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or can help us identify the man responsible to come forward.”
Anyone with information should contact DC Tyrie in the Northern Investigation team on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
