SURGEONS from all over the world are to meet in Hampshire to set the guidelines of a pioneering keyhole surgery.
Experts will discuss and present guidelines for a safer liver surgery pioneered at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust.
A pre-meeting course to give surgeons the opportunity to find out more about the technique will be held at Southampton University Hospital on February 9.
Other indications for surgery, surgical techniques, complex clinical scenarios and future implementation will be discussed in a meeting at the Hilton at Ageas Bowl on February 10 and 11.
Mohammad Abu Hilal, consultant surgeon and honorary associated professor at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leaders in this field and said: “After years and years of development we took the lead of establishing guidelines for this keyhole surgery.
"This event will present the guidelines to other 200 people from all over the world.”
